BAY AREA ITINERARIES: Trail Through Time

Back from the first summer camping trip and what a nice surprise it was! We knew Mount Diablo is a beautiful place and we’ve camped there before, but that time we discovered only the tip of the mountain … which we actually touched in the Summit Museum now! We also hiked the Mary Bowerman Interpretive Trail, sections of the Trail through Time and rediscovered Rock City with kids, this is a place to come back to!

CAMPING ITINERARIES: Lassen Volcanic Park

Short note from the “camping” trip to Lassen for Memorial Day Weekend:

  • We “camped” at KOA (we actually had cabins, but there are camp sites too) and liked it. It turned out to be a nice alternative to the crowded campgrounds in the park and a good starting point for the north part of the park too.
  • We hiked quite a bit in one day and loved the Cinder Cone in the morning and Bumpass Hell and Kings Creek Falls later in the afternoon. Couldn’t stop noticing how crowded Bumpass Hell was though, so it was good we did it last.
  • And what I liked the most was the “new” Lassen, for some reason I remembered it more devastated from the last trip (errr … maybe ten years ago) and found a surprisingly diverse and alive place with soft green meadows still fresh in my memory…
