MUSICAL ITINERARIES: THE WORLD TOUR

Where in the World is Rick Steves?
Contest Details

Classical 102.1 KDFC invites you to take off with us on our annual music world tour without leaving your office. Each day, KDFC fills the airwaves with 3-piece sets of music from destinations around the world, beautiful works inspired by exotic locales.

We will play 3-piece sets back to back all a day visiting wonderful destinations musically. You might hear Carmen, Rodrigo and Boccherini on a visit to Spain. (Boccherini spent a lot of his career there)… or maybe Madam Butterfly, Memoirs of a Geisha, and The Mikado on a trip to Japan. It’s fun, so tune in at work and find out where the music will take you each day.

Questions/Answers

Where in the World was Rick Steves on Monday (10/19)?: IRAN
Hi, I’m Rick Steves. Today I’m in a country about the size of Alaska that definitely marches to its own beat. Its mile-high capital is home to 14 million people. Ancient columns rising from rugged ruins recall the country’s ancient glory, but today its wealth is largely underground. Credit cards are worthless and cash is king. This country is Nirvana for pistachio lovers like me and here they are washed down with tea but never beer. It’s a country veiled in mystery, and not many Americans travel here, though the US used to have close ties with a former government. Where in the world am I?

Where in the World was Rick Steves on Tuesday (10/20)?: LONDON
Hi, I’m Rick Steves. Today I’m in a cosmopolitan city known for its world-class museums that contain art by Rembrandt, Monet and others. The main square, guarded by lions, is named after a Spanish cape. Karl Marx, Vincent Van Gogh, Jimi Hendrix and many others have called this city home. Vast, leafy parks in the center are perfect for a stroll, as is its riverside promenade. On the skyline gleaming skyscrapers compete with a massive church dome, delicate spires and a very big wheel. Where in the world am I?
